The NBG releases 2024 Sustainable Finance Status Report
The National Bank of Georgia publishes an annual sustainable finance report, which reviews current trends, policies, and plans related to sustainable finance in Georgia. To address the growing interest in sustainable finance and enhance transparency around its actions and plans, the National Bank began publishing Sustainable Finance Status Report in 2021.
The Sustainable Finance Status Report is divided into two parts. The first part provides an overview of the sustainable finance-related actions and policies implemented by the NBG, as well as descriptions of ongoing and upcoming projects. The second part analyzes sustainable finance trends in the financial sector, specifically reviewing the information provided by commercial banks in their 2024 ESG forms. The Corporate Governance Code for Commercial Banks establishes mandatory Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure requirements, and commercial banks have been submitting ESG forms since 2021. These filled-out forms, covering the years 2021-2024, are available on the NBG’s webpage.
The National Bank of Georgia remains committed to further developing its Sustainable Finance Framework and is steadily progressing toward the objectives outlined in the Sustainable Finance Roadmap.
