The Georgian Parliament has approved four new members to the Board of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

At a plenary session, lawmakers endorsed the candidates nominated by the President - Vakhtang Burkiashvili, Levan Dzneladze, Nino Jeladze, and Otar Shamugia

Prior to the vote, the nominees appeared before the Finance and Budget Committee of Parliament, where they discussed their professional experience, outlined their vision for the NBG, and addressed questions from MPs.

All four appointees bring extensive experience from both the public and private sectors, particularly in finance and banking. Three of them have previously held leadership roles within the NBG, while Otar Shamugia joins the Board following a long tenure at the Ministry of Agriculture.

Members of the NBG Board are elected by Parliament for a seven-year term based on nominations from the President of Georgia. With these appointments, the Board now consists of nine members.
