The National Bank of Georgia re-announces a competition for the creation of the design of the two new collector coins on the following themes:

  • The 100th anniversary of the adoption of the first Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Georgia
  • The Earth Day

The 100th anniversary of the adoption of the first Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Georgia

On February 21 of 1921, the Constituent Assembly of the Republic of Georgia adopted the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Georgia. The Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Georgia recognized that Georgia is a free, independent and indivisible state, a permanent and unchangeable form of political system is a democratic republic.

The capital of Georgia is Tbilisi, the state language - Georgian; Abolition of the form of the management-board of the Democratic Republic of Georgia cannot become a subject of revision of the Constitution.

The 1921 Constitution is distinguished by strengthening human rights and freedoms. The text of the Constitution was one of the most progressive on the European continent.

In 2021, 100 years will have passed since the adoption of the first Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Thus, the National Bank of Georgia has decided to issue a 5-lari silver coin to celebrate this date aiming to demonstrate the importance of this event and support democratic values

The Earth Day

Earth Day is an annual event coordinated around the world and celebrated on April 22 in support of the environment.

This day is a global initiative that unites millions of people around the world to support the environment and protect our planet.

The UN General Assembly declared April 22 as International Earth Day in a resolution adopted in 2009, and in this way, joined the civil society groups that had celebrated this date before.

In order to raise public awareness on Earth Day, the cognitive activities are held in the various countries of the world in connection to this event.

Considering the importance of the environmental issue, the National Bank of Georgia decided to join this global initiative and issue a 5-lari collector silver coin to mark the Earth Day in 2021, with the aim of promoting these activities and popularization of Georgia internationally.
