Realization of 5 Lari denomination Collector coin dedicated to Georgian Vine will start from July

In summer 2017, in French city of Bordeaux center of wine civilization, International Wine Exhibition will be held, where Georgia will be the guest of honor, which will be presented not only in terms of wine-making, but also in terms of culture, ethnography and history.

In this regard, National Bank of Georgia has decided to respond this event and issue 5 Lari Denomination silver collector coin, on the topic of Georgian vine, which will support Georgia, as for popularization of the country as recognition of Georgian wine culture in the world.

Coin design was selected through an open competition and its author is Nino Gongadze. The coin is minted in Japan Mint and its realization will begin from July, 2017.

                

Averse: Schematic illustration of golden pitcher represented as conventional section is coin’s main composition. Wine in pitcher is depicted in dark red. The image of vine is located along the pitcher. Plant roots are engraved on the piled surface, (ვარჯი), leaves and bunch of grapes are pilled and placed on glossy surface.

On the lower part of the coin’s arc from left to right are along the following inscriptions: "საქართველო", "2017", "GEORGIE" (in French), "5 ლარი".

Reverse: The main composition is represented by graphical illustration of win civilization’s museum located in city of Bordeaux, France. Where Georgia will be the guest of honor.

On right side at the top of the coin is depicted denomination and the symbol of Lari "₾", while on the arc circularly are placed French inscriptions "LA GÉORGIE - PREMIER VIGNOBLE INVITÉ DE LA CITÉ DU VIN DE BORDEAUX" "საქართველო - ბორდოს ღვინის ცივილიზაციის ცენტრის პირველი საპატიო სტუმარი".
