On December 13^th, 2018 the Parliament of Georgia elected Papuna Lezhava as the Board Members of the National Bank of Georgia for a term of seven years.

According to the Organic Law of Georgia on the National Bank of Georgia, the  Vice-Governors of the National Bank of Georgia shall be apiunted by the Board of the National Bank of Georgia upon the nomination of the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia.

From 2015 the International Finance Corporation employed Papuna Lezhava in Washington; he was also the Advisor to Executive Director of the World Bank Group in 2013-2015; in 2010-2013 he was employed in the National Bank of Georgia on different positions.
