National Bank of Georgia's Information regarding the services of the Financial Sector
20 March, 2020
According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus, from now on all major retail outlets and shopping centers cease to operate throughout the country and only grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, post offices, banks, microfinance organizations, loan issuing entities and currency exchange bureaus will continue to operate.
Under these constraints the financial sector continues to provide a full range of services, including uninterrupted supply of cash, payments, lending and deposit operations. The pay boxes and ATMs will work without disruption. These services will not be restricted even if the state of emergency is declared in the country.
Georgia's financial sector is prepared to meet the challenges. Among them, we have well-developed remote services.
We encourage the population to maximize the usage of the internet payment services and avoid leaving their homes without utmost necessity, so that the authorities will be able to fight the virus efficiently. The banks, microfinance organizations, loan issuing entities and currency exchange bureaus are advised to limit the direct physical contact between the staff members and customers at the service centers. They should also ensure that the service is delivered without queues where possible, or ensure the recommended distance between the customers in the queue.
Through our joint actions, we will be able to quickly defeat the virus and restore our usual way of activities. #Stayhome
