The total volume of non-bank deposits in the country's banking sector increased by 4.7 percent (exchange rate effect excluded volume of deposits increased by 5.0 percent), or by 1.0 billion GEL, compared to December 1, 2018 and constituted 23.0 billion GEL by January 1, 2019. In December, the volume of term deposits decreased by 126.2 million GEL (0.9 percent; exchange rate effect excluded volume of term deposits increased by 0.6 percent). Demand deposits increased by 1.2 billion GEL (13.8 percent; exchange rate effect excluded volume of demand deposits decreased by 14.0 percent).

The larization ratio of total non-bank deposits constituted 36.90 percent by January 1, 2019 and increased by 0.87 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded by 0.77 percentage point) compared to December, 2018.

The annual average weighted interest rate on term deposits constituted 5.7 percent. In particular, the interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 8.2 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits 2.9 percent.

The share of the US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals 83.1 percent and the share of the Euro equals 15.3 percent.
