Current Condition of Commercial Banks Loan Portfolio

The volume of lending by commercial banks (including loans to non-residents) in October 2018 increased by 921.8 million GEL or by 3.7 percent compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending increased by 1.8 percent) and constituted 25.8 billion GEL by November 1, 2018. The volume of loans in the national currency increased by 237.5 million GEL (2.2 percent) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by 684.3 million GEL or by 4.9 percent in the same period (as a result of operations, or exchange rate effect excluded, above mentioned indicator increased by 1.5 percent).

By the end of October 2018, the total volume of national currency denominated loans issued by commercial banks amounted to 3.3 billion GEL (1.5 percent more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans to resident legal entities constituted 7.8 billion GEL (2.5 percent more; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in the foreign currency decreased by 0.8 percent).

During October 2018, the volume of lending to resident individuals increased by 3.6 percent or 484.2 million GEL, and constituted 13.8 billion GEL by November 1, 2018.

Larization ratio for total loans constituted 43.36 percent by November 1, 2018 and decreased by 0.65 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded increased by 0.15 percentage point), compared to October 1, 2018.
