Current Condition of Commercial Banks Loan Portfolio

The volume of lending by commercial banks (including loans to non-residents) in November 2018 increased by 336.1 million GEL or by 1.3 percent compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending increased by 1.6 percent) and constituted 26.1 billion GEL by December 1, 2018. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 87.7 million GEL (0.8 percent) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by 248.4 million GEL or by 1.7 percent in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, above mentioned indicator increased by 2.2 percent).

By the end of November 2018, the total volume of national currency denominated loans issued by commercial banks amounted to 3.4 billion GEL (1.6 percent more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans to resident legal entities constituted 7.9 billion GEL (1.3 percent more; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in the foreign currency increased by 1.7 percent).

During November 2018, the volume of lending to resident individuals increased by 0.8 percent or 111.1 million GEL, and constituted 13.9 billion GEL by December 1, 2018.

Larization ratio for total loans constituted 43.14 percent by December 1, 2018 and decreased by 0.22 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded decreased by 0.34 percentage point), compared to November 1, 2018.
