Card-based payment instrument data has been added to Interactive Statistics of the National Bank of Georgia

From April 2021, National Bank of Georgia started publishing aggregated data on card-based payment instruments and its usage, along with other available information, on the National bank of Georgia's interactive statistics platform. Data is presented in 4 views and it includes information on card-based payment instruments issued in Georgia, operations performed by card-based payment instruments, and card devices located in Georgia. Along with data tables, there are also relevant graphs. Different information regarding card-based payment instruments issued and operations performed by them can be viewed by following filters:

✓ Type of card-based instrument (Visa, MasterCard, etc.)
✓ Category of card-based instrument (Debit, Credit, etc.)
✓ Geographic area/location of the performed operation (Local, abroad)
✓ Card devices (ATM, POS terminal, etc.)

For the next stage, it is planned to breakdown the information on card-based instruments in more detail.

Interactive statistics, was prepared using modern data visualization and analytics platform (Tableau BI), based on SebStat database. Data will be updated monthly and will be available both in Georgian and English languages. Published data will be helpful as for payment market participants (Banks, PSPs, and microfinancing organizations), as well for analysts, students, researchers and other individuals interested in this information both in Georgia and abroad.
